Air fryer potato stuffed green chilli is a spiced, home-style snack made with mild green chillies and a soft potato filling. You get warm, well-seasoned chillies with just a light spray of oil and no deep frying.
This post walks you through how to stuff and air fry them right.

About Airfryer Potatoes Stuffed Green Chilli
This is a lighter take on the classic Indian stuffed chilli, like bharwan mirch or mirchi vada, but without the heavy gram flour batter.
Mild big green chillies are slit, deseeded, and filled with a spiced mashed potato mix, then air fried until soft and lightly charred.
It is a popular tea-time snack across many Indian homes. People stuff these chillies in all kinds of ways, from plain potato to paneer or lentils.
This version keeps the filling simple with potato, onion, garlic, and coriander, so it stays easy to make on a busy day.
If you like a potato filling, it is close to these spicy mashed potatoes, just tucked inside a chilli.
Ingredient Notes

- Big green chillies – Use large, mild chillies like bhavnagri or bajji chillies, not the small hot ones. They are soft and good for stuffing.
- Boiled potatoes – Boil, cool, and mash them well. No lumps, so the filling packs in easily.
- Onion and garlic – Chop them fine so they mix smoothly into the potato.
- Green chillies (chopped) – These add a little kick to the filling. Skip them if you want it mild.
- Coriander leaves – Fresh and finely chopped. They add a nice fresh taste.
- Black pepper powder – A mild, warm heat for the filling.
- Chilli flakes – Just for garnish on top.
- Oil – A light spray to help the chillies cook and brown.
- Salt – To taste.
How to Make Airfryer Potatoes Stuffed Green Chilli
1. Boil the potatoes well. Let them cool, then peel and mash them until smooth.
2. Wash the big green chillies and pat them dry. Slit each one down the middle lengthwise and scoop out the seeds, so there is room for the filling.

3. In a bowl, add the mashed potatoes, chopped onion, chopped green chilli, chopped garlic, coriander leaves, black pepper powder, and salt. Mix everything well.

4. Fill each slit chilli with the potato stuffing. Press it in gently so it holds. Sprinkle chilli flakes on top.

5. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (360°F) for 2 minutes. Place the stuffed chillies in the air fryer basket one by one. Spray a little oil over them. Air fry at 180°C (360°F) for 12 minutes.

6. Check them at 12 minutes. The chillies should look soft, with the skin a little wrinkled and lightly charred in spots, and the filling hot through. If they need more, air fry for 2 to 3 minutes more.

7. Serve them hot as a snack or a side.

Expert Tips
- Pat the chillies fully dry before stuffing, so the oil spray coats them well.
- Deseed the chillies to keep the heat mild and easy to eat.
- Do not overfill. Pack just enough so the chilli still closes a bit and the filling stays put.
- Lay the chillies in a single layer with space between them, so they cook evenly.
What to Serve With Stuffed Green Chilli

Storage
These taste best fresh and hot off the air fryer. If you have leftovers, let them cool and keep them in an airtight box in the fridge for a day.
The chillies will soften as they sit. To serve again, warm them in the air fryer for 3 to 4 minutes.
You can also mash and mix the filling ahead of time and keep it in the fridge, then stuff and air fry when you are ready.
Frequently Asked Questions

That usually means they cooked a bit long or sat too long after. Serve them hot, and pull them out once the skin wrinkles and chars lightly.
