About Air Fryer Bread Rolls

Bread rolls are a classic Indian snack. You take a slice of bread, add a filling, roll it up, and cook it till crisp. The old way was to deep fry them, but the air fryer gives you the same crunch with just a little butter.

This version skips the usual potato filling and uses a fresh mix of onion, capsicum, tomato, and cheese. It is quick to put together and works great for breakfast, an evening snack, or serving to guests with a dip on the side.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Less oil than frying – A light brush of butter gives you a crisp roll without the deep fry.
  • Cheesy filling – Melted cheese and fresh veggies make every bite fun.
  • Easy to make – No cooking the filling first. Just mix, roll, and air fry.
  • Great for guests – Serve them hot with ketchup or green chutney.
  • Uses simple stuff – Everything comes from your everyday pantry.

Ingredient Notes

  • Bread slices – Use fresh, soft bread. Soft slices roll up easily. Old bread cracks and breaks.
  • Onion, capsicum, tomato – Chop them small so the roll seals well. Take the tomato seeds out so the filling stays dry.
  • Grated cheese – Mozzarella melts best, but any melting cheese works.
  • Mayonnaise and ketchup – These bind the filling and add a creamy, tangy taste.
  • Coriander leaves – They add a fresh note. You can skip them if you do not have any.
  • Chili flakes – Add as much or as little as you like. Go light for kids.
  • Melted butter – Brushed on top, it helps the rolls turn golden and crisp.

How to Make Air Fryer Bread Rolls

1. Wash the onion, capsicum, tomato, and coriander leaves well. Take the seeds out of the tomato. Removing the seeds keeps extra water out of the filling, so the rolls turn out crisp. Now chop the onion, capsicum, tomato, and coriander leaves fine.

2. In a bowl, add the chopped onion, capsicum, tomato, mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, chili flakes, grated cheese, and coriander leaves. Mix well so everything is evenly combined.

3. Trim the edges off the bread slices. Then use a rolling pin to press each slice a little thin and flat.

4.. Put 1 to 2 tablespoons of the filling in the center of each slice. Roll the bread up carefully. Press the edge lightly to seal it well. Stick a toothpick through to keep the roll from opening.

5. Brush melted butter evenly over all the rolls with a brush.

6. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (360°F) for 3 to 5 minutes.

7. Place the rolls in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 180°C (360°F) for 8 to 10 minutes. Flip them once in the middle so both sides turn golden and crisp.

Expert Tips

  • Use fresh bread. If it is a few days old, it turns dry and cracks while you roll it.
  • Do not overfill. Too much filling makes the roll tear and the edges will not seal.
  • Press the edges well and use a toothpick, so the rolls stay shut while cooking.
  • Leave a little gap between rolls in the basket. This helps them cook evenly on all sides.

What to Serve With It

These rolls are best fresh and hot. I like to serve with:
