Key Ingredients Notes

Ingredients for Mushroom Stir Fry With Soy Sauce
  • Mushrooms: For this recipe I use white button mushrooms. Of course, all other mushrooms are good to go with that.
  • Capsicum and mild green pepper: Here, I use green medium capsicum for color and light crunchiness.
  • Onion and spring onion: Onion gives depth, while spring onion adds freshness at the end. Spring onion is completely optional.
  • Garlic and green chilies: Garlic builds the base flavor, and green chilies add gentle heat.
  • Butter: Butter adds richness and helps carry the flavors of the sauces.
  • Soy sauce and hot sauce: Soy sauce provides saltiness and umami, while hot sauce adds a spicy kick without overpowering the vegetables.
  • Black pepper and salt: These balance and sharpen the overall taste.

How to Make Mushroom Stir Fry With Soy Sauce

Before you start, keep all the vegetables chopped and ready. Stir frying moves quickly once the pan is hot. So, be prepared and be ready for that.

1. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add butter. Let it melt completely.

Best Mushrooms for Stir Fry

Button mushrooms work very well for stir fry because they cook evenly and are easy to slice.

If available, cremini mushrooms add a deeper flavor, while oyster mushrooms give a softer, meatier texture.

No matter which type you choose, always cook mushrooms on medium heat and avoid overcrowding the pan. This helps them saute instead of steaming.

What to Serve With Mushroom Stir Fry

Mushroom Stir Fry With Soy Sauce

Mushroom stir fry with soy sauce pairs well with steamed rice, fried rice, or noodles.

It also works as a side dish with Asian-style mains or even alongside simple dal and rice. For a lighter option, you can serve it with flatbread or enjoy it on its own as a warm vegetable dish.

I personally love to serve it with my homemade chapati roti and flatbread for lunch and dinner.

Storage and Reheating Tips

This stir fry is best eaten fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one day. Reheat gently in a pan over low heat to avoid overcooking the mushrooms.

Avoid microwaving for too long, as mushrooms can turn rubbery when overheated.

This mushroom stir fry with soy sauce is simple, flavorful, and reliable, making it a great recipe to keep on hand for quick meals.
